A native of Manhasset, N.Y., Alicia Brennan played basketball at Binghamton from 1986-90, and earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 1990. She went on to receive her medical degree from John Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1994.

A four-year standout during a difficult period of transition, Brennan was a 5-foot-11 beacon for the women’s basketball program. Despite playing for three different coaches in four years, Brennan graduated as the school’s career points (1,229) and rebounds (837) leader. She still ranks among the program’s top-10 in 14 different categories.

After averaging 16 points per game as a freshman, Brennan began to gain attention in her sophomore season. In 1987-88, she averaged 17.1 points and 12.6 rebounds per contest, and was named first-team All-SUNYAC. In a February conference game, Brennan pulled down 23 rebounds — a mark that still stands as a school-record after the program’s first 30 years.

In her junior year, Brennan was elected team captain and again averaged a “double-double” with 13.4 points and 11.6 rebounds. She was a repeat selection as first-team all conference.

In her senior season, the Brennan-led Colonials doubled their win total, advancing to post-season for just the second time in program history. In November she eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring plateau, and then in early December she broke the career scoring mark en route to averaging a scoring-rebounding “double-double” for a third straight year. She capped her final season with all-conference honors.

Brennan, who also played one season of softball at the University, was the John Bilos Award winner in 1990.
