Daye Kaba competed in track & field and  basketball at Binghamton from 1994-1997. He earned a bachelor's degree in pre-law in 1997. Kaba then graduated from University of Michigan Law School in 2000.

A gifted athlete with vertical jumping prowess, Kaba made his mark in the track high jump and as a 6-foot-5 basketball forward. Splitting his time between the two sports, Kaba played basketball from November to February and immediately moved to track to round out each school year.

His first and most prominent contributions came on the track. As a freshman, Kaba took up high jumping for the first time and quickly shot to the top-tier in the country. His first championship place was fourth at the New York State indoor event. Outdoors, Kaba notched runner-up honors at both the SUNYAC and state meets. He set the school record with a clearance of 6-feet-9 1/4, which qualified Kaba for the NCAA Division III Championships in Naperville, Ill. There, he tied for sixth place to earn All-America honors.

As a sophomore, Kaba captured a SUNYAC indoor high jump title and followed that with a New York State title. Outdoors he was runner-up at both championships.

Kaba returned to the national stage in 1996. After capturing outdoor high jump titles at the SUNYAC and State championships, he returned to Naperville and placed third at the NCAA Championships, collecting his second All-America honor.

In his senior year, Kaba added two more high jump titles, winning outdoors at the SUNYAC and State meets.

In basketball, Kaba packed his accomplishments into a two-year span after beginning his career on the junior varsity team. In 1995-96, Kaba averaged 12.0 points on 51% shooting and added three double-doubles and more than a block per game. He was selected to the All-SUNYAC Team.

In 1996-97, Kaba jumped his production up to 15.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. His signature game was a 30-point, 13-rebound performance against Delaware Valley that led to tournament MVP honors. Kaba again led the Colonials in blocks and was a repeat All-SUNYAC selection.

Kaba's academic success was recognized with Track National Scholar-Athlete accolades and he also was chosen for a Binghamton Merit Medal. He also earned the Arthur Ashe Award for athletic and academic performance in 1996.
