A native of Brewster, N.Y., Kevin McKeown played lacrosse at Binghamton from 2003-06. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics in 2006 and earned his master's degree in education from Elmira College in 2008.

McKeown is the most decorated lacrosse player in school history, earning All-America honors once and all-conference honors three times. He graduated holding every goalie mark in the record books. McKeown also was a three-year team captain, Dean's List student and leader across campus.

A four-year starter, MeKeown earned recognition right out of the gate, receiving America East All-Rookie honors in 2003. His signature game was a 17-save performance against Quinnipiac that gave the Bearcats their first-ever America East win.

As a sophomore, McKeown spearheaded an unlikely championship season in the program's third year as a varsity sport. He anchored a BU defense that led the entire nation in goals against average (6.94). McKeown was selected as America East Player of the Year and a USILA All-American — becoming BU's first male Division I All-American. He led the Bearcats to an undefeated 6-0 conference mark, regular season conference title and runner-up tournament finish. After ranking third in the nation in goals against and 14th in save percentage, McKeown added Scholar All-America honors to his 2004 resume.

In 2005, he led the Bearcats to a win over nationally-ranked Stony Brook — the third win over the rival Seawolves in two seasons — and held down the 14th-best goals against average in the country.

As a senior, McKeown earned his third straight all-conference honor and his final campaign included wins over two nationally-ranked foes plus an America East all-championship team selection.

After graduation, McKeown served on the coaching staff for four years, taking the role of interim head coach for the 2011 season and steering that team to seven wins and a conference semifinal appearance.
