Junior defender converted two crucial penalties to lift women's soccer to 3-2 win at Bryant

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer junior back Megan Baker has been named America East Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. It's Baker's first career weekly conference honor. It's the third straight week and fourth in the last five that a Binghamton player has earned a weekly honor from the America East.

On Sunday, Baker converted two second-half penalty kicks to push Binghamton to a 3-2 road win over Bryant on Sunday. She created the first penalty after earning a corner kick with strong work down the right side and then when she was hauled down inside the box in the 63rd minute. Then with time winding down in a 2-2 game, Baker converted the game-winner in the 86th minute.

She has six points on the season (2G, 2A).

Baker joins Jahkaya Davis (Offensive Player, Sept. 2), Rebecca Kessler (Defensive, Sept. 15), and Anna Buckwalter (Offensive, Sept. 22) as weekly winners this fall.

With the win, the Bearcats extend their unbeaten streak to seven games (5-0-2) and move into sole possession of first place in the conference standings. It's the third time in four years Binghamton has begun league play at 2-0. The team's seventh win also matches last year's total, with six regular-season games remaining.
