BACKGROUND
The Athletics Hall of Fame was established to honor those individuals who have distinguished themselves and the University through the intercollegiate athletics program at Binghamton University. Its main purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those individuals who have brought distinction, honor and excellence to Binghamton University athletics. In 1996, Binghamton University celebrated its 50th anniversary year and part of that celebration was the opening of the Athletic Hall of Fame, which was originally housed in the West Gym lobby area and now has been moved and enhanced on the Concourse Level of the Events Center.

The Binghamton University Hall of Fame is an acknowledgment of our past accomplishments and provides visible proof that we are building on a solid foundation, as we prepare to move our athletic programs to a higher level of competition. The Athletic Hall of Fame, featuring an attractive wall display with walnut plaques, illuminated by track lighting, permanently showcases more than five decades of athletic accomplishment.

SELECTION PROCESS
The Binghamton University Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1996 to honor those individuals who have distinguished themselves and the University through the intercollegiate athletics program. Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those individuals who have brought distinction, honor and excellence to Binghamton University athletics.

Anyone can nominate an individual for the Athletic Hall of Fame. Nominations are accepted annually with the selection committee convening each spring. Nominations remain on the ballot for three years. The ceremony is held each fall in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend on campus.

Any athlete is eligible five years after graduation or five years after that individual’s class graduated. Coaches and staff members must have served for a minimum of five years.

Other individuals who have aided the advancement of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program can also be nominated.

To nominate a worthy Binghamton athlete for the Athletic Hall of Fame, please contact John Hartrick at hartrick@binghamton.edu.
