Basketball

Completed in 2004, the 156,000 square foot complex is the largest sports facility of its kind within 75 miles of Binghamton.  Basketball seating at Dr. Bai Lee Court swells to 5,142 fans and includes courtside seating and a student section that seats more than 1,000  members of the boisterous BU Zoo.

The arena served as the host venue for the first three rounds of the 2005, 2006 and 2008 America East Men’s Basketball Championships, the entire 2007 America East Women’s Basketball Championship and the pinnacle event — the 2009 America East Men’s Basketball Championship Game.  A sellout crowd of 5,342 and a nationally televised ESPN2 audience witnessed Binghamton’s 61-51 victory over UMBC.  That win gave the Bearcats their first conference title and inaugural NCAA berth.

In 2015 and 2016, the first two rounds of the America East Women’s Basketball Championship were held at the Events Center.

With unwavering campus and community support, the men’s program led the America East in attendance for an unprecedented nine straight seasons between 2004-12 and the women’s team has annually been among the conference leaders in attendance.

In addition to athletics, the Events Center has been the host for dozens of concerts, shows, festivals and other prominent area events.

Wrestling

The Events Center has also hosted numerous wrestling dual meets, invitationals and championships, including the 2019 EIWA Championship and the annual Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open.
