BOSTON -- Host Boston University (12-2-1, 5-0 AE), ranked 21st in the country, scored four times on 34 shots and defeated Binghamton (4-8-1, 1-3-1 AE) 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field. The Terriers, who have won 35 of their last 36 games against America East opponents, became the first team to score more than a goal against the Bearcats' back line this season.

Boston jumped out of the gate quickly, netting two goals in a three-minute span early in the game to forge ahead 2-0. A goal off a cross in the ninth minute opened the scoring before the Terriers doubled their lead in a rebound tally in the 12th minute.

Junior forward Candice Rowland cut Binghamton's deficit in half with a nice individual effort in the 13th minute. Rowland eluded several Boston defenders before beating the keeper from 15 yards out for her first career goal.

But Boston reclaimed its two-goal cushion with a tally in the 43rd minute and then finished off the scoring with another goal in the 76th minute.

The Terriers owned a 34-9 shots advantage.

Sophomore keeper Carrie Martin was credited with eight saves. Boston keeper Kelly King made six stops.

"We got off to a slow start and I think they outcompeted us today," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "We played decent in stretches and Candice produced a great goal. Now we have three very important games left and will have to play our game from start to finish."

Binghamton plays at New Hampshire next Sunday, October 16.
