VESTAL, N.Y. --- Visiting Bucknell (8-3) placed three players in double figures en route to a 68-57 win over Binghamton (2-11) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Sunday afternoon at the Events Center. The Bison entered the contest receiving votes in the NCAA Division I Mid-Major Poll.

Claire DeBoer led the way for Bucknell with 16 points while Claire Maree O'Bryan and Audrey Dotson each added 12 points. As a team, the Bison connected on seven three-point field goal attempts.

For the Bearcats, meanwhile, senior forward Sherae Swinson led all scorers with 21 points. In the process, she matched her season-high and has now reached the 20-point mark in scoring six times during her career. Freshman point guard Jasmine Sina added 15 points, five rebounds and a career-high five steals.

"I thought our girls played pretty hard," head coach Linda Cimino said. "We got good shots but they just weren't falling. Bucknell is a very good team and I thought we competed well with them. We saw some good things out there today, especially with Sherae, and we have some things to build on for the future."

After falling behind 17-4 in the opening seven minutes, the Bearcats stormed all the way back to take a 27-26 lead with 4:34 left in the first half. Junior guard Kim Albrecht's jumper punctuated the run and gave Binghamton its first lead of the way.

The Bison responded by going on a 10-4 run to go up 36-32 with 29 seconds left in the first half. Sina, however, trimmed the deficit in half when she converted a layup just before the buzzer.

While the Bearcats shot 41 percent (13-of 32) in the opening 20 minutes, the second half proved to be a different story as they went 8-for-33 from the field (24 percent). The tone was set in the first 3:30 after the break when the Bison outscored Binghamton 7-0.

Despite the shooting problems, the Bearcats got back to within 51-47 with 9:30 left in regulation. From there, however, Binghamton hit just two field goals the rest of the game and the Bison were able to pull away for the win.

America East Conference play starts for Binghamton on Saturday with a 2 p.m. home game against UMass Lowell.

NOTES: Sina's five steals are the most turned in by a Binghamton player this season … Swinson's previous 21-point game this season came against Xavier on Nov. 22 … Dotson became the 21st player in Bucknell history to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career when she sank a free throw with five seconds left in regulation.
