Women’s Basketball Loses 74-48 At Vermont

Swinson ties for game high with 13 points

BURLINGTON, Vt. – Host Vermont (7-20, 3-11 AE) had four players reach double figures in scoring en route to a 74-48 win over Binghamton (4-23, 1-13 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon at Patrick Gym. The game marked the final regular-season road contest for the Bearcats.

Sam Simmons led the Catmounts with 13 points. Niki Taylor and Jordan Eisler added 12 points while Kayla Burchill chipped in 11 points. All four of those players started the game but the Catamounts also outscored the Bearcats 26-5 in bench points.

Up 26-24 with 6:40 left in the first half, the Catamounts went on a 15-2 run to go up 39-26 at the break. The Bearcats played Vermont even for most of the second half until the host team went on an 11-1 run in a span of 2:43 to go up 67-42 with 5:12 left in regulation.

Vermont came up with 12 steals and scored 22 points off of Binghamton turnovers.

Junior forward Sherae Swinson tied Simmons for the game high with 13 points. Senior guard Vaneeshia Paulk finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

Binghamton returns home to face Hartford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
