Men’s Soccer Plays to 0-0 tie at Hartford

Moewes makes nine saves as Bearcats move to 2-1-1 in AE play

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Binghamton (7-5-2, 2-1-1 AE) settled for a 0-0 tie against Hartford (4-5-4, 0-2-2 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Saturday evening at Al Mazook Field. With the draw, the Bearcats are now unbeaten in their last four road matches.

Hartford finished with a 20-4 shot advantage for the game. Junior goalkeeper Robert Moewes, however, made nine saves to record his fifth solo shutout of the season.

"Hartford played as good as I've seen them all year," head coach Paul Marco said. "They are a good team. Robert made some great saves tonight and our back four were great."

The game between Binghamton and Hartford marked a rematch of last year's America East semifinal game. The Hawks won 2-1 in overtime, also at Al Mazook Field.

Binghamton returns home having earned four points on their two-game road trip this week. The Bearcats won 2-1 at conference-leading New Hampshire on Wednesday.

"Earning a split in two conference road matches is good but we did better than that this week," Marco said. "We are delighted with where we are at right now going into our last three conference matches."

Up next for Binghamton is a 1 p.m. game at home next Saturday against UMBC. The start time got moved up to accommodate the university's Family Weekend.
