Seawolves net game winner 96th minute

Final Stats

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Vince Erdei scored with 4:51 left to go in the first sudden-death overtime period, leading Stony Brook (7-6-1, 3-2-1 AE) to a 2-1 win over Binghamton (8-6-2, 3-2-1 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Friday night at LaValle Stadium.

Binghamton had been leading Stony Brook 1-0 up until the final four minutes of regulation. Sergei Gamwanya, however, drilled a shot into the upper-right hand corner of the net, forcing the game into overtime.

The Seawolves controlled play for much of the first sudden-death period before Erdei fired his game-winning shot from 18 yards out. It was his team-high eighth goal of the year.

The Bearcats opened the scoring on a goal by graduate student forward Pascal Trappe in the 37th minute. He fired the ball from 25 yards away into the upper-right corner of the net. It was his team-best fifth goal of the season and was assisted by sophomore forward Ben Ovetsky.

Stony Brook finished with a 17-8 shot advantage. Junior Robert Moewes finished with six saves.

Binghamton, which has already clinched a berth in the upcoming America East Tournament, hosts Albany on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in its final regular-season game.
