SCOUTING BINGHAMTON

Binghamton (0-1) stayed within Michigan for the first half before losing its season opener 90-62 on Saturday afternoon. Freshman guard Rebecca Carmody, who is the current America East Rookie of the Week, finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a pair of steals. Sophomore forward Alyssa James, meanwhile, turned in a double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds. She also added four blocks and four steals.

SCOUTING NJIT

NJIT (0-0) opens its season having gone 12-17 in 2014-15. The Highlanders return two starters and seven letterwinners from last year's squad. Junior center Leah Horton led the squad last season with 10.1 ppg and 6.6 rpg.

THE SERIES AGAINST NJIT

The two squads met for the first time last season, with the host Highlanders winning 52-48 on Dec. 6. Current sophomore guard Imani Watkins led the Bearcats with 19 points.

WORTH NOTING

Binghamton has now posted the season's first America East Rookie of the Week selection in each of the past two seasons. In addition to Carmody, Watkins was the choice last season.

The home court of Bearcats is now officially known as the Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. The naming is in honor of his recent million-dollar donation to the Binghamton Athletic Department.
