Women’s Basketball Defeated 76-46 at Bucknell

Watkins nets game-high 20 points, Carmody adds 11 rebounds

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Binghamton (1-2) lost 76-46 at Bucknell (2-1) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Wednesday night at Sojka Pavillion. The game marked the Bearcats' third contest in five days.

Sophomore guard Imani Watkins led the Bearcats with a game-high and season-best 20 points. It marked the fourth time in her career she has scored at least 20 points in a game. Watkins is now averaging a team-best 14.3 points per game this season.

Senior guard Kim Albrecht added 12 points, draining a season-best four three-point field goals in the process. Freshman guard Rebecca Carmody, meanwhile, grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.

Jacquie Klotz of Bucknell finished with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Kaitlyn Slugus added 11 points while Claire DeBoer chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Bucknell scored the game's first 15 points in the opening 3:45 of play. Klotz had nine of her points during that stretch.

Binghamton settled down and was within 36-24 with 5:08 left in the first half. The Bison, however, closed the half on a 7-0 run to go up 43-24 at the break.

In the third period, Bucknell went on a 13-4 run in a span of 6:38 to go up 60-34 with 1:38 left to go.

"Bucknell got off to a great start tonight, which was tough for us to come back from," head coach Linda Cimino said. "We also got into foul trouble, which hurt our depth later in the game."

The Bison used their size advantage to outrebound the Bearcats 56-29 for the game. They also held a commanding 31-5 margin in bench scoring.

Binghamton returns home for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday against Cedar Crest.

NOTES: Binghamton has now had a player reach double figures in rebounding in all three games this season. Sophomore forward Alyssa James had 10 rebounds against Michigan on Saturday and Watkins finished with 11 rebounds against NJIT on Monday.
