Women's Basketball Travels to Brown

STORY LINES

Binghamton (2-4) had a valiant rally, but fell short at Xavier 64-55 on Saturday. Sophomore forward Alyssa James broke both the school and America East Conference records with nine blocks. She also posted 15 points and 11 rebounds to narrowly miss a triple double. Senior guard Kim Albrecht, meanwhile, added a game-high 20 points.

James continues to lead the Bearcats with 15.3 points, ranks second in the America East with 8.0 rebounds and a conference-best 3.2 blocks per game. Sophomore guard Imani Watkins is averaging 13.7 points per game while Albrecht is pumping in 11.0 points per night.

Brown (6-1) defeated Rhode Island 67-63 on Tuesday night. Shayna Mehta, who leads the Bearcats with 12.7 points per game, netted a career-high 21 points in the win. 

Binghamton and Brown meet for the first time since Nov. 28, 2004. The Bears defeated the Bearcats 68-50 in the championship game of the Binghamton/Time Warner Classic. It remains the only meeting between the two schools.

In four out of six games this season, the Bearcats have had a player record a double-double. Sophomore forward Alyssa James has three of those performances while sophomore guard Imani Watkins has the other one. 

Binghamton has had a player reach the 20-point mark in scoring four times in six games this year. Sophomore guard Imani Watkins has hit it twice while sophomore forward Alyssa James and senior guard Kim Albrecht have each done so once.

Freshman guard Rebecca Carmody was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Nov. 16, is averaging 8.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
