VESTAL, N.Y. – Sophomore guard Imani Watkins scored a game-high 23 points, leading Binghamton (3-5) to a 63-56 win over Colgate (1-5) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Monday night at the Events Center. With the victory, the Bearcats remain unbeaten on their home court this season, having won all three contests.
 
Watkins also finished with eight rebounds, seven assists a block and four steals. From the free throw line, she went 13-for-15. She has now reached the 20-point mark in scoring a team-best three times this year.
 
Sophomore forward Alyssa James recorded her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds. Senior guard Kim Albrecht, meanwhile, added 14 points.
 
"I am really proud of our team effort," head coach Linda Cimino said. "I thought everyone contributed in different ways. We didn't turn the ball over and shared the ball very well."
 
With Binghamton trailing 55-54, Watkins was fouled with 1:52 left in the fourth period. She sank both free throws, giving the Bearcats a lead they would not relinquish. Following a Raider miss on the ensuing possession, Watkins made a layup with 36 seconds left, giving the Bearcats some breathing room.
 
The Raiders were within 59-56 with 15 seconds left but missed on a game-tying three point field goal. James grabbed the rebound. Watkins then iced the game by hitting four more free throws in the final six seconds of regulation.
 
"We were behind in the last part of the game and to be able to come back and finish out the game is something I am really proud of," Cimino said.
 
Binghamton was down 15-10 through one period but freshman guard McKayla Hernandez drained three straight three-point field goals, giving Binghamton a 19-15 lead. The nine points represents her career high and she also added four rebounds and a pair of steals.
 
The Bearcats appeared to be in command of the game as a Watkins three-point field goal gave them a 50-39 lead with 1:09 left in the third period. The Raiders, however, outscored Binghamton 15-4 in the first 8:02 of the fourth period. Katie Curtis' three-point field goal capped the run and gave Colgate its first lead of the season. That set the stage, however, for Watkins to take over the final stretch of the game.
 
Josie Stockill led the Raiders with 17 points and added a game-high 14 rebounds and six blocks. Curtis added 12 points.

For the game, Binghamton finished with 14 assists and just 13 turnovers. Collectively, the Bearcats also shot 6-for-13 from beyond the three-point arc (46.2 percent). 
 
Binghamton travels to Columbia on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
 
NOTES: James' rebound total is the highest by a Binghamton player since Julia Barac finished with that same total against Rider on Dec. 14, 2013.
