FOREST CITY, N.C. - Radford (5-4) scored runs in four straight innings and completed a weekend sweep of Binghamton (1-5) with an 8-3 win Sunday afternoon at McNair Field. The Highlanders reached double-digit hits for the third straight game and used middle-innings offense to pull away.
A solo home run gave Radford a 2-0 lead after four innings and then the Highlanders added two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth. The key blow in the sixth was a two-out, bases clearing double after two walks had brought about the jam.
Down 7-0, the Bearcats got two runs back in the bottom of the sixth inning and added another in the seventh. Radford tacked on their final run in the ninth for the five-run cushion,. Â

Zach Blanden went 3-for-5, senior right fielder
Jake Thomas collected his team-leading seventh RBI and sophomore left fielder

Paul Rufo each went 2-for-4 to pace the offense.
Blanden was a home run away from the cycle. He hit a triple in the third inning, single in the sixth and double in the seventh. Thomas drove him in with an RBI double in the sixth inning and Posavec followed with a run-scoring single. In the seventh, Blanden hit a two-out double, went to third on an error and scored on a wild pitch.
On the hill, the most effective BU pitcher of the four who was redshirt freshman Jake Wloczewski, who tossed two scoreless innings, allowing only an eighth-inning single.
After the opening two weekends, Thomas leads BU with a .391 average and seven RBI. He has four exta-base hits. Blanden raised his season average to .364 (.481 on-base percentage). Rufo is the third Bearcat hitting over .300 (.308).
Binghamton will square off against VMI in a four-game set beginning Friday in Lexington, Va. or southward, depending on weather.
