VESTAL, N.Y.,,,The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (3-3) came up just short against the Marist Red Foxes (3-2), losing 11-9 at the Bearcats Sports Complex today. The Bearcats never led in the game, but battled back from deficits of 6-2 and 9-5 to close out the game scoring four of the final six goals.

"I think that they showed a lot of resiliency out on the field today. I think the tough part to swallow is that we put ourselves in that hole early on in the game," reflected Head Coach Stephanie Allen. "I don't think it was necessarily things that Marist was doing, ,adjustment wise,,or plays that Marist was creating,,,it was really just unforced errors and bad choices with the ball for Binghamton today."

A tough first half produced few highlights for Binghamton. Tiffany Ryan got the Bearcats on the board with 24 minutes left in the half, but Binghamton would not score again for nearly 20 minutes. Brianne Arthur would score on a shot from ten yards out to make it 4-2, but Marist closed the half with two unanswered goals to lead 6-2.

Binghamton would respond in the second half, out scoring the Red Foxes the rest of the way, 7-5.

"We just asked them to play with a little more sense of urgency," replied Allen. "If we had played offensively the way we did in the last fifteen minutes of the game I think it would have been a different outcome. Certainly playing with a sense of urgency helped us create some opportunities on the offensive end near the end of the second half."

Binghamton used a trio of free position shots to net their first three goals of the half, first from Arthur, then Callon Williams, and Renee Kiviat. Kiviat would then cut the Marist lead to 6-9 thanks to a pass from Alex Fisher.

The Bearcats would tally three goals within the final three and a half minutes. Alex Fisher scored on a pass from Sophia Racciatti, and then Callon Williams added her second (unassisted) and third (assisted by Arthur) goals of the game.

That was as close as BU would get, as Marist played keep-away for the final 16 seconds to come away with the win.

Binghamton returns to action on Tuesday, March 17, at home against Siena. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
