Men’s Soccer Plays to 0-0 Tie at St. Bonaventure

Bearcats end non-conference slate with 5-4-1 record

OLEAN, N.Y. – The Binghamton men's soccer team (5-4-1) finished up its non-conference schedule with a scoreless tie at St. Bonaventure (1-8-1) on Wednesday night at the Marra Athletic Fields Complex.

Binghamton finished with a 13-8 advantage in shots. The two teams each fired seven shots in regulation but the Bearcats outshot the Bonnies 2-1 in the first overtime and 4-0 in the second one.

Junior goalkeeper Robert Moewes made a pair of saves to record his fourth solo shutout of the season.

"It is disappointing that we did not get a goal tonight but I thought our guys played very well and we are happy with the (defensive) shutout," head coach Paul Marco said. "We were very good on the ball and in our one-on-one defending. St. Bonaventure played very organized tonight and looked the best they had all year."

A year after finishing non-conference play with a 2-8-0 record, the Bearcats recorded a winning record over the first 10 games this season. They were held without a goal seven times during that stretch in 2014 but the tie tonight marked only the third such time so far this year.

Binghamton starts America East Conference play on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at Vermont.
