WEST POINT, N.Y.- The Binghamton wrestling team won four matches, including Dylan Caruana's pin of a ranked opponent, at Army West Point Sunday, but it was not enough as the Black Knights escaped with a 19-15 decision. Caruana, Steven Bulzomi, Jacob Nicholson, and Steve Schneider each won for the Bearcats in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) match at Christl Arena.
 
Coach Matt Dernlan's squad got out to a terrific start, winning the first three matches of the dual. Steven Bulzomi handled Sean Badua, 7-2, in their 125-pound bout to start the day.
 
Jacob Nicholson followed with a strong performance at 133 pounds. He defeated Austin Harry, 9-4, tallying a four-point near fall in the third period.
 
In the 141-pound match, Caruana faced off against #28 Logan Everett. Caruana controlled the first period and then registered a pin at 2:55, giving Binghamton a 12-0 advantage.
 
Army bounced back with four straight close decision victories, tying the dual at 12. In the 184-pound contest, Schneider took on Samson Imonode. The sophomore posted a takedown in each period, notching an 8-6 win to put BU back ahead, 15-12.
 
After the Black Knights took the 197-pound bout, the dual came down to the heavyweight match between Connor Calkins and David Farr. The grapplers battled to a 3-all draw through regulation, sending the match into sudden victory. Farr came away with a takedown to win the bout, 5-3, and lift Army to a tight dual win.
 
BU is now 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the EIWA. It continues a six-match road trip next weekend, as the Bearcats will wrestle at Columbia (Saturday) and Hofstra (Sunday) in a pair of EIWA contests. Army improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
