HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.- The Binghamton wrestling team put together a dominant performance, winning at Hofstra, 31-10, Sunday afternoon. Jacob Nicholson, Dylan Caruana, and Vincent DePrez each posted pins, while Frank Garcia, Jack McKeever, Steve Schneider, and Mark Tracy also won for BU in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) match.
 
After Hofstra won the opener, BU responded in immediate fashion. Nicholson pinned Marcus Begay in their 133-pound bout. Nicholson claimed the fall just 58 seconds into the first period.
 
At 141 pounds, Caruana followed with a pin of Connor Mull at the 1:27 mark, giving Binghamton a 12-3 advantage. Frankie Garcia then recorded an 11-6 decision over Kyle Krasavage in their 149-pound contest.
 
Vincent DePrez continued the Bearcats' streak, pinning Cory Goshkagarian at the 2:25 mark, lifting BU to a commanding 21-3 lead.
 
Hofstra notched a victory at 165 pounds, but BU responded to secure the team win. McKeever registered a 2-0 decision over Frank Affronti in their 174-pound contest. At 184 pounds, Steve Schneider then tallied a 12-4 major decision over Cory Damiana.
 
Mark Tracy handled Omar Haddad in their 197-pound match, contributing an 8-3 decision to give Binghamton a 31-6 lead. Connor Calkins dropped his heavyweight bout to #22 Mike Hughes to cap the afternoon.
 
BU (6-4, 3-2 EIWA) continues its six-match road trip next weekend, as the Bearcats wrestle at Drexel on Friday, January 22, and at Penn on Sunday, January 24.
