PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Binghamton wrestling team fell, 24-9, at Penn Sunday afternoon.

Connor Calkins each won for the Bearcats in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) match at The Palestra

With Penn ahead, 24-3, BU fought back. Tracy got the Bearcats back on the board with an exciting win at 197 pounds. Facing Robert Ng, Tracy rallied in the third period, eventually forcing overtime. In the first extra frame, the two battled to claim the winning margin. Tracy finally registered a takedown for a 7-5 decision, trimming BU's margin to 24-6.

At heavyweight, Calkins matched up with Patrik Garren. Garren led early, but Calkins hung around, going down 3-2 in the third period. Calkins then made his move, shooting for a takedown and recording two points in the final seconds to overcome the deficit and pull out a victory.

At 125 pounds, Bulzomi and Jeremy Schwartz led off the dual with a tense bout. Bulzomi, a freshman, picked up a third-period takedown to win the match, 4-3.

Penn responded with two close victories in the next contests, including a sudden victory win at 141 pounds.
Dylan Caruana and Marc Mastropietro locked into a tough matchup, with each grappler taking chances to earn points. Mastropietro collected a takedown late in SV, claiming the win.

BU forfeited at 149 pounds, setting up an entertaining bout between
Vincent DePrez and #31 May Bethea at 157 pounds. Bethea came away with a 9-6 decision to extend the Quakers' advantage to 15-3.

The hosts took each of the next three contests.

Binghamton dropped to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the EIWA. It concludes its six-match road trip on Saturday, January 30, at Ithaca. The non-conference dual is set for a 2 p.m. start. Drexel improved to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the EIWA this season.
