Women's Basketball Opens AE Slate at Stony Brook

STORY LINES

Binghamton (5-8) defeated Misericordia 73-44 on Monday night at the Events Center. Sophomore forward Alyssa James finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks while senior guard Kim Albrecht scored 20 points and freshman forward Rebecca Carmody added 13 points.
 
James ranks third in the America East in both scoring (17.9 ppg.) and rebounding (8.5 rpg) and is first with 3.1 blocks. She has also posted five double-doubles. 

Sophomore guard Imani Watkins is eighth in the America East in scoring (15.5 ppg.), tied for third in assists (5.1 apg.) and is fifth in steals (2.1 spg.). Albrecht is averaging 11.6 points per game and is tied for second in the America East with 2.3 three-point field goals per game.

Stony Brook (8-5, 0-0 AE) defeated Harvard 64-63 in its most recent game on Dec. 30. Ogechi Anyagaligbo, who has been named the America East Rookie of the Week a conference-record seven straight weeks, finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds against the Pride. For the season, she leads the America East with 10.5 rebounds per game and is second on the team with 11.3 points per game. Brittany Snow, meanwhile, leads the Seawolves and ranks sixth in the conference with 16.1 points per game.

Binghamton leads the all-time series against Stony Brook 20-18 but the Seawolves have swept the past six meetings. Last year, they won 67-54 at home on Jan. 25 and 68-59 at the Events Center on Feb. 26. The Bearcats' last win in the series was a 55-46 decision at home on Feb. 1, 2012. At Stony Brook, the Bearcats last prevailed 44-32 on Jan. 5, 2012.
