Men’s Soccer Loses 2-0 to Vermont

Catamounts net a goal in each half to record road win

VESTAL, N.Y. – John Arnar and Bernard Yeboah each had a goal and an assist, powering Vermont (10-4-1, 2-3-0 AE) to a 2-0 win over Binghamton (6-4-5, 1-2-2 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Saturday night. The game took place under extremely blustery wind conditions at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

In addition to suffering the home loss, the result was made even tougher for the Bearcats in that they outshot the Catamounts 11-5 for the game. They fired five of their shots on goal but could not find the back of the net.

"We are very disappointed with the result tonight," head coach Paul Marco said. "We still have a lot of soccer left this season and a lot to play for this year but we did not have a good performance tonight. Vermont came out very strong and got an early goal. Given them credit, they were great in the moments that they got the goals."

Arnar's goal came in just the eighth minute.  He took a pass from Yeboah, broke into the box and slid the ball into the net. It was Arnar's second goal of the season.

At the half, the Bearcats had an 8-3 lead in shots. They allowed only one more shot in the first half after Arnar's goal.

Yeboah's goal, meanwhile, came in the 67th minute. He fired a 20-yard blast into the upper left-hand corner of the net for his 10th goal of the season. Arnar was credited with the assist.

Binghamton heads to Hofstra on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
