UNIVERSITY PARK, P.A.- The Binghamton wrestling team lost in a 46-0 shutout to No. 2 Penn State Sunday afternoon. The Bearcats, now 1-2 for the season, finished up their competition for the weekend with today's dual.Â
Penn State, currently ranked second behind Oklahoma State by NCAA, is fueled by a powerhouse of 10 nationally ranked wrestlers. Out of those 10, BU faced eight in today's dual. Leading Penn State's pack are Zain Retherford, ranked No. 1 in the 149 weight division and Jason Nolf, also ranked No. 1 for the 157 class. Both of these wrestlers won by fall in each of their matches today.
For Binghamton, 165-pound junior Vincent DePrez put up a hard fight in his match against No. 9 Vincenzo Joseph, but was unable to walk away with a win. Deprez fell 10-5 by decision to Joseph. At 184 pounds, No. 13 Steve Schneider and No. 2 Bo Nickal were the sole matchup of ranked opponents. Schneider started his match strong, but ultimately fell 18-7 by major decision to Nickal.Â
