Men's basketball plays at St. Francis Saturday

After five-win November, BU opens December vs. Red Flash at 7 p.m. in Loretto, Pa.

VESTAL, N.Y. - Having banked the first five-win November in program history, Binghamton men's basketball (5-4) opens December with a road game at St. Francis (Pa.) Saturday night in West Central Pennsylvania. The Bearcats and Red Flash (3-3) tip at 7 p.m. at Degol Arena.

Binghamton, which has alternated wins and losses through the first nine games of the season, looks to make it two in a row but will have to beat a St. Francis team that is undefeated on its home floor this winter.

The Bearcats are coming off a 91-71 win over Mansfield on Wednesday. In that game, junior forwards Bobby Ahearn and Dusan Perovic scored 19 points apiece and sophomore guard Everson Davis added 17 points. Binghamton shot 54 percent and enjoyed a 34-6 margin in bench scoring. The game wrapped up a hectic five-games-in-nine-days stretch for the Bearcats, who now have six more non-conference games before America East play begins in early January.

Redshirt sophomore guard J.C. Show continues to lead BU in scoring (14.0 ppg.), followed by Ahearn (11.3 ppg.) and Perovic (9.3 ppg.). Show has scored 20 or more points four times in 2016-17. Ahearn notched his second career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds against Mansfield. Sophomore guard Timmy Rose is handing out 3.9 assists per game and redshirt junior guard Yosef Yacob leads the America East in three-point percentage (9-of-13, 69%).

Northeast Conference member St. Francis is coming off an 83-70 loss at NJIT on Wednesday - a defeat that snapped a three-game win streak. The Red Flash are scoring nearly 84 points a game and played St. Bonaventure within 10 points in their season opener. Sophomore forward Josh Nebo leads the team in scoring (13.7 ppg.) and is second in rebounding (7.8 rpg.). The Red Flash start two freshmen and the roster features 11 underclassmen.

This will be the second meeting between the two programs. Last year in Vestal, St. Francis took advantage of an off night for BU shooters and led throughout the second half for a 67-61 win. Perovic led the Bearcats with 19 points and Davis added 17.

After Saturday's game, BU will head to Colgate for a Wednesday night tilt with the Raiders.
