ALBANY, N.Y. – The Binghamton women's basketball team (10-14, 5-6 AE) battled first-place Albany (20-3, 11-0 AE) the entire game before losing 64-58 in an America East women's basketball game on Monday night at SEFCU Arena.

Imani Watkins scored a game-high 22 points while senior guard
Kim Albrecht finished with 21 points.
"I was really proud of our effort tonight," head coach
Linda Cimino said. "I thought our defense and our aggressiveness were great. We have a lot of confidence right now and our kids played very well."
The Bearcats came out strong, taking a 17-12 lead at the end of one quarter. From there, they went up 29-24 at the half.
Albany took a 44-41 lead at the end of the third quarter but the Bearcats responded with a 9-5 run to go up 50-49 with 7:05 left in regulation. Watkins punctuated the run with a go-ahead three-point field goal.
The Great Danes built their lead back up to 58-53 but a three pointer by Albrecht trimmed the deficit to 58-56 with 2:15 left to go.
Albany sealed the victory by going 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 35 seconds.
Binghamton returns home on Thursday to face Hartford at 7 p.m.
