Softball Defeats UMass 4-2 at Maryland Invitational

Bearcats scheduled to face Boston Univ. at 1:30 p.m.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior outfielder Sydney Harbaugh drove in a pair of runs and junior outfielder Gabby Bracchi scored twice, leading Binghamton (8-8) to a 4-2 win over UMass (6-15) in the second day of the Maryland Softball Invitational.

Bracchi scored on Harbaugh's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning, putting the Bearcats ahead 1-0. Two innings later, Bracchi tied the game at 2-2 when she scored on a RBI single by Harbaugh.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, sophomore Tia Smith and sophomore designated player Kate Richard each singled home a run, putting the Bearcats up 4-2.

Freshman pitcher Makenzie Goluba tossed 3.2 scoreless innings and did not allow a hit in her first decision of the year. Megan Colleran dropped to 5-9 with the loss.

Senior catcher Lisa Cadogan went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Binghamton was scheduled to face Boston University at 1:30 p.m. but the game was postponed until Sunday -- at the same time -- due to rain. The Bearcats will then face the host Terps at 4 p.m.
