UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State (12-12) snapped a 1-1 tie with three unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and the host Nittany Lions went on to a 5-2 win over Binghamton baseball (7-15) Wednesday night at Medlar Field. The loss against the Big Ten foe snapped BU's four-game win streak.Ā
With the score deadlocked in the fourth, Penn State took advantage of two infield errors to push across three runs on just two hits. A two-out, two-run triple did the most damage.

One inning earlier, sophomore center fielder
CJ Krowiak put the Bearcats on the board when he doubled inside the third base bag and then raced all the way home on a wild pitch.Ā
Binghamton had a good chance to chip away at a 4-1 deficit when it put two runners in scoring position with one out in the sixth. But back-to-back strikeouts ended the rally.Ā
Penn State added their final run in the sixth inning on two hits.Ā
The Bearcats plated their second run in the eighth inning. Krowiak reached after a bunt, stole second and came in when junior first baseman
Brendan Skidmore delivered a two-out RBI single to left.Ā Skidmore went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.Ā
In the mid-week non-conference game, BU used eight pitchers in a predetermined format. Freshman starter

Joe Orlando went 1.1 scoreless innings, as did senior Tsyoshi Horibata. Sophomore
Jake Erhard struck out three in a scoreless seventh inning. Binghamton's pitchers combined for eight strikeouts.Ā
The Bearcats will host Albany at 3 p.m. on Friday to begin a three-game America East set. The teams will also play a twinbill on Saturday. The series was moved up a day due to Sunday's forecast.Ā
