STORY LINES

- Binghamton is making its sixth appearance in the America East semifinals and its first since 2012. The Bearcats defeated UMBC 49-41 in the quarterfinals on Saturday night at the Events Center. Senior guard Kim Albrecht scored 18 points and sophomore guard Imani Watkins added 15 points. Freshman guard Rebecca Carmody, meanwhile, added 11 rebounds.

- Albany (25-4) is the four-time defending America East champion. The Great Danes beat Vermont 95-43 in the quarterfinal round. Shereesha Richards scored a game-high 32 points while Zakiya Saunders added 21 points and Imani Tate finished with 20 points.

- The winner of the Binghamton-Albany game faces either Maine or Stony Brook in the America East title game next Friday at the site of the highest remaining seed. Albany, Maine and Stony Brook are the top three seeds in the tournament while the Bearcats are the No. 5 seed.

- The Bearcats had a successful weekend even before the first tip of the tournament. At the America East Awards Banquet on Friday night, Linda Cimino was named the conference's Coach of the Year while sophomore forward Alyssa James was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. James joined senior guard Kim Albrecht as a third-team all-conference selection while sophomore guard Imani Watkins was named to the second time. Freshman guard Rebecca Carmody, meanwhile, was tabbed All-Rookie.
