VESTAL, N.Y. - Riding a wave of momentum, Binghamton women's soccer (4-2-2) hosts Bryant (3-4) at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Bearcats Sports Complex. Heading into the second of three straight home games, BU has already eclipsed last season's win total, thanks to three victories in its last four games.Â
Binghamton rebounded from a 2-0 road loss at Lehigh to defeat Temple 3-1 on Sunday. The Bearcats outshot the Owls 15-6 and scored twice in the second half to snap a 1-1 halftime deadlock. Senior forward
Leighann Bennett registered a goal and an assist and sophomore forward
Jocelyn Acor and senior back
Allison Mack also tallied goals as BU had its highest output in 27 games dating back to the end of the 2014 season.
After starting the season with a 3-1 mark, Bryant has dropped its last three games, including a 2-0 loss to fellow America East member Maine in its last outing six days ago. The team's other results were wins over Stony Brook (1-0), Iona (2-0) and Fairfield (1-0) and losses to Yale (2-1), UMass Lowell (1-0) and Quinnipiac (1-0). So the Bulldogs are 1-2 vs. the America East in 2016.
First team all-conference midfielder Hannah Crofut leads a big contingent of returning letterwinners from a 2015 team that went 5-11-3 (4-2-2 in NEC). Bryant was picked to finish fifth in the NEC this fall. Â
Binghamton and Bryant have met just once - when both were Division II members in 1999. The Bearcats posted a 5-0 season-opening win at home.Â
