VESTAL, N.Y. – Nico Solabarrieta scored twice, powering Albany (12-4-1, 4-2-1 AE) to a 2-0 win over Binghamton (5-10-3, 1-4-2 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Wednesday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex. With the defeat, the Bearcats' season ends one point shy of qualifying for the conference tournament.
Solabarrieta scored his first goal directly in front of the net in the 25th minute. It was assisted by Carlos Clark. His second goal finished off a cross from Andreas Assiotis in the 68th minute.
Binghamton outshot Albany 14-11 for the match and had an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. Great Dane goalkeeper Danny Vitello, however, finished the match with eight saves.
