Women's Basketball Begins Play at Great Alaska Shootout

Bearcats meet Tulsa in first round Tuesday at 9:30 p.m EST

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (3-1) won 72-66 at Southern Utah on Saturday night and is off to its best since the 2011-12 campaign. Senior guard Imani Watkins led four players in double figures with 19 points. Sophomore guard Kai Moon added 13 points and nine rebounds, while senior center Alyssa James and junior forward Rebecca Carmody each finished with 12 points. James also had five blocks.

- Watkins continues to lead the America East Conference with 21.3 points per game while sophomore guard Kai Moon is averaging 12.8 points per night. James and sophomore guard Carly Boland are tied for third in the conference with 7.3 rebounds per game while James ranks first with 5.3 blocks per game.

- Playing in the America Athletic Conference, Tulsa (2-2) defeated Missouri-Kansas City 76-52 on Saturday. Shug Dickson, who leads the Golden Hurricanes with 17.5 points per game, had a team-best 15 points in the victory.

- This marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools in women's basketball.

- Senior guard Imani Watkins currently has 1,553 points. That ranks fourth all time in Binghamton program history and No. 33 all time in the America East. In third place, with the Binghamton program's Division I era record of 1,557 points, is Andrea Holmes (2008-12).

- Binghamton will face either Maryland-Eastern Shore (UMES) or Alaska-Anchorage in the final round of the Great Alaska Shootout on Thursday. This marks the first appearance for the Bearcats in the 40 year history of the event.
