LEWISBURG, P.A.- The Binghamton wrestling team fell to Bucknell, 33-7, Friday night. Parker Kropman and Steve Schneider were the lone Bearcats to take wins in the contest. 

"Sometimes you need to tip your hat to the other team," Head coach Matt Dernlan said. "They wrestled tough and they out disciplined us. We just got beat."

Steven Bulzomi came out strong at 125, up 6-1 going into the second period. Accumulating 2:07 in ride time, the sophomore kept a 6-2 lead as Jordan Gessner escaped at the end of the second. Gessner, earning a reversal, then turned the tables and pinned Bulzomi 5:32 into the match.

Bucknell, who has three nationally ranked wrestlers in their lineup, continued to make a statement as they took the next two matches as well. After the first three bouts, the Bison led 14-0.

At 149, Parker Kropman stepped on the mat and almost simultaneously earned a takedown. By the end of the first period, Kropman was up 6-1 with 4 back points and close to two minutes in ride time. The freshman, earning his fifth straight win, dominated with a 19-6 major decision to put the Bearcats on the board. Kropman is now 10-3 overall and 9-2 in EIWA duals. 

Unfortunately, Binghamton was unable to generate from that momentum. Bucknell topped BU in the next three weight classes to take a 26-4 lead. They clinched the dual with a bonus point win over Anthony DePrez at 174.

At 184, No. 15 Steve Schneider didn't let that hinder his performance. Tied 0-0 through the second period, Schneider kept control of the match accumulating almost a minute in ride time. Garrett Hoffman took a 2-1 lead in the third, before Schneider recorded a takedown with just 24 seconds left in the match. With 1:03 in ride time, he earned his fourth consecutive win with a 4-2 decision. Schneider is now 11-2 overall and 10-1 in EIWA matches.

Binghamton dropped the final two bouts of the night and Bucknell won by a final match score of 33-7. 

"They beat us in every fundamental position possible tonight," Dernlan said. "When you win those, it accumulates to the outcome we had. I think we need to have a short memory but also remember how this feels. Tomorrow's a new match and we need to be able to turn around and get a win."

With the loss, Binghamton falls to 8-5 overall and 8-3 in EIWA duals. The Bison move to 10-4 overall and 7-1 in the league. 

The Bearcats return home for another EIWA matchup tomorrow against Penn. The dual is slated for a 12 p.m. start time at the West Gym.
