VESTAL, N.Y. – Madison Alcorn drove in a game-high four runs and Courtney Cashman had three RBI, powering UMass Lowell (15-17, 7-3 AE) to a 12-4, five-inning win over Binghamton (13-19, 5-2 AE) in an America East softball game on Sunday morning at the Bearcats Sports Complex. With the victory, the River Hawks take two out of three games during the weekend conference series.
Alcorn finished the day 3-for-4 with a triple while Cashman was 3-for-3 with a pair of extra-base hits and scored a game-high three runs. As a team, the River Hawks pounded out 14 hits and finished the weekend with a .388 batting average

For Binghamton, junior outfielder
Jessica Rutherford capped an impressive weekend by going 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. During the three games against the River Hawks, she hit .455 (6-for-11), homered twice and drove in six runs. For the season, Rutherford is batting a team-best .404 with three home runs and 27 RBI.
UMass Lowell broke the game open with five runs in the top of the fourth inning. Four of those runs, including a two-run triple by Cashman, came before the first out had been recorded.
Binghamton rallied with four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Rutherford drilled a bases-loaded triple into right center field and scored two batters later on a bunt single by senior outfielder
Bridget Hunt.
Alcorn put the River Hawks back up 7-4 with a two-run triple on the top of the fourth inning. She scored one batter later on a single by Alisha Welch.
UMass Lowell tacked on four more runs in the top of the fifth inning. After a leadoff home run by Casey Harding, Cashman had a RBI single and Alcorn doubled home two more runs.
Lauren Ramirez improved to 5-8 with the win while freshman pitcher
Rayn Gibson is now 6-5 with the loss. Kaysse Talcik, meanwhile, recorded her first save of the year.

Stephanie Bielec each went 1-for-3 and finished the weekend series with a .300 batting average.
Binghamton hosts Buffalo on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
NOTES: Rutherford now has nine career triples and moves into second place all time in Binghamton program history. She had been tied with three other players, including current Bearcat assistant coach
Jessica Bump (2011-14) with eight triples. The all-time program record of 11 career triples is held by Rose Barre (2003-06).
