Men’s Soccer Plays To 0-0 Tie At Stony Brook

Bearcats pick up a point in America East opener

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Binghamton (3-5-2, 0-0-1 AE) played to a 0-0 tie at Stony Brook (5-2-3, 0-0-1 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Saturday night at LaValle Stadium. It marks the second straight season that the two squads have played to a scoreless tie and gives the Bearcats a 2-0-2 record in their last four conference openers.

The final shot count was 23-14 Stony Brook but the shot on goal margin was significantly closer at 9-8 Seawolves.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeepers Chris Shutler and Alejandro Cubillo shared the shutout. Shutler, who made the start, finished with five saves. Cubillo, who came on in the second half, had four stops the rest of the game.

"It's good to get at least a point on the road in the conference," head coach Paul Marco said. "I thought all of our guys stayed within the game plan and did very well tonight. Both defenses and keepers were quite good tonight."

Binghamton and Stony Brook have now gone into overtime in each of their last five matches. The Bearcats hold a 2-1-2 edge during that stretch.

The Bearcats host UMBC next Saturday at 6 p.m. in their annual Homecoming Game.
