Bearcats have won five of their last six, sit in third place in America East standings

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (7-4-2, 2-1 America East) heads to Long Island for a Thursday night matchup with host Stony Brook (7-5-1, 2-0-1 AE). The teams, which occupy the number two and three positions in the conference standings, kick off at 7 p.m. at LaValle Stadium.

The Bearcats are coming off a 1-0 home win over Maine on Sunday and have posted five wins in their last six games. During that stretch, they have outscored opponents 11-1 with five shutouts. The only stumble was a 1-0 setback to Vermont to open conference play.

Senior forward Kayla Saager continues to lead the America East in both goals (9) and points (22). Sophomore forward Genna Michitti (2-1=5) and junior forward Ryan Reilly (1-3=5) are next in scoring. Eight different Bearcats have scored goals this season.

In net, sophomore Haylee Poltorak has a 0.56 goals against average and an 86.4 save percentage - both tops in the America East. Sophomore Erin Theiller is the reigning America East Defender of the Week after steering the team to a pair of shutout wins last week. Binghamton's back line has posted seven shutouts this season.

Stony Brook, the defending America East champions, played a tough non-conference schedule and is now flexing its muscle in league play. The Seawolves are coming off a 4-0 win over Vermont last Sunday. The team has scored three or more goals in each of its first three America East games (3-2 win over Maine, 3-3 tie at Albany) and in six of the team's last seven games.

Sophomore Alyssa Francese leads the team with eight goals and 17 points.

Stony Brook leads the all-time series 10-3-3 and has lost just once in the last 11 meetings. But that loss occurred last year, when midfielder Patty Loonie scored in the 24th minute and BU posted a 1-0 home win.
