Men's basketball hosts Sacred Heart Saturday

Bearcats and Pioneers tip-off at 2 p.m. at Events Center

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball (1-4) welcomes Northeast Conference member Sacred Heart (2-3) to the Events Center on Saturday. The teams will tip at 2 p.m. from Dr. Bai Lee Court in a game broadcast on ESPN Plus.   

Last time out
• Binghamton put four in double figures but allowed 43 second half points and lost at Colgate, 76-68, Monday night
• Freshman guard Sam Sessoms scored in double figures for the fifth straight game to start his collegiate career (19 pts.) 
• Senior forward Chancellor Barnard had his first double-double as a Bearcat with 11 points and 11 boards
• There were 10 lead changes and five ties in the see-saw game

About Sacred Heart
• Coming off 94-90 loss to fellow America East member UMass Lowell Sunday in the Brown Tip-Off Classic
• Averaging 88.2 points of offense early on this season
• Own wins over Division III Western New England and also Army
• Return two starters and seven lettermen from 10-21 squad last year
• Picked to finish ninth (of 10) in the Northeast Conference

• Binghamton leads 3-1
• The teams played twice while members of the Division II New England Collegiate Conference (1998 & 1999) and again last season
• Last December in Fairfield, Conn., J.C. Show hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 1:36 left and BU closed the game with an 11-0 run to rally for a 51-48 win — the team's seventh straight victory.

Bearcats rank fourth in nation in blocks
Despite opening the season without the top shot blocker in the America East (Thomas Bruce), BU has racked up 35 blocks and ranks fourth in the entire nation (7.0/game). 

Barnard registers first double-double of season for Bearcats
Senior forward Chancellor Barnard turned his 26 minutes against Colgate into his first double-double in a BU uniform. The graduate transfer had 11 points (4-of-6 FG) and a career-high 11 rebounds. He also added a pair of blocks.
