Women’s Basketball Loses 61-45 at Hartford in Regular-Season Finale

Bearcats tie for third in AE with Stony Brook, will play Hartford in quarter final

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Binghamton women's basketball team (19-10, 10-6 AE) lost 61-45 to Hartford (17-12, 9-7 AE) in its final regular-season game on Sunday afternoon at the Chase Family Arena.

The Bearcats finish the regular-season tied for third place in the America East with Stony Brook and now await the conference to release the brackets at 9 p.m. tonight for its upcoming conference tournament.

Against the Hawks on Sunday, senior guard Imani Watkins finished with 14 points while senior center Alyssa James had six points, eight rebounds, three assists, four blocks and a pair of steals.

Binghamton was down 44-31 to Hartford with 3:03 left in the third quarter but went on a 14-2 run to pull within 46-45 with 5:22 left in regulation. Watkins had six of her points during that stretch.

Hartford, however, finished the game on a 15-0 run.

The America East Tournament quarterfinals and semifinals will take place in Portland, Maine this coming Saturday and Sunday respectively. Binghamton, the number three seed, will face six seeded Hartford on Saturday, March 3 at 8:15 p.m. The winner of the Binghamton/Hartford matchup will play the winner of No. 2 Albany and No. 7 Vermont.
