- Binghamton (19-11) is making its first-ever appearance in a NCAA Division I national post season game. The Bearcats have been at the NCAA Division I level since the 2001-02 season. Binghamton was a NCAA Division II program from 1998-01 and competed at the Division III level up through the 1997-98 campaign.

- The Bearcats' victory total this season has already tied their highest mark during their NCAA Division I era. Binghamton went 19-9 in 2001-02 and 19-12 in 2010-11. The last 20-win season came in 2000-01 when the Bearcats finished 22-7 and won the ECAC Division II Tournament.

- Youngstown State (16-15) competes in the Horizon League and is making its second appearance in the WBI in three seasons. The Penguins advanced to the 2016 semifinal round. Youngstown State's postseason history also includes appearances in the 2013 and 2015 WNITs.

- In their last game, the Penguins lost 66-49 to No. 21 Wisconsin-Green Bay in the Horizon League semifinals on March 5. Sarah Cash scored a team-best 12 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone in the process.

- Watkins, the America East Player of the Year, continues to lead the America East and ranks No. 23 in the nation with 20.2 points per game. She is also tied for second in the America East in steals (2.3 spg.).

The Bearcats are also first in the America East in rebounding (40.1 rpg.) and second in scoring defense (57.0 ppg.). In addition, Binghamton is No. 18 in the nation in field goal percentage defense (.356) and No. 32 in scoring defense. Â

- Cash leads Youngstown State with 11.5 points per game while Indiya Benjamin, who was named second-team All-Horizon League, is second with 9.9 points per game. As a team, the Penguins are second in the Horizon League with a .340 three-point field goal percentage and a .725 free throw percentage. They are also third with 14.16 assists per game.

- Watkins and James have already etched their names in the record books this season. James has broken both the Binghamton and America East single-season and career records for blocks (103 and 263 respectively). Watkins, meanwhile, has 2,075 career points, which ranks first all-time in Binghamton history and No. 10 in America East Conference history.
