STORY LINES
- Binghamton (19-10) enters the America East Tournament as the No. 3 seed -- its highest since the 2010-11 season. The Bearcats have twice before been the No. 3 seed (2002 & 2011) and were the No. 2 seed in 2004.
- The Bearcats split the season series against Hartford (17-12), winning 64-59 at the Events Center on Jan. 13 but losing 61-45 on the road this past Sunday. Senior guard

- In the America East Tournament, the Hawks hold a 3-1 lead in the series against Binghamton. The Bearcats won 48-45 in the 2012 quarterfinals at Hartford but lost the most recent meeting in the 2013 quarterfinals, 68-53.
- With a 19-10 record, Binghamton has already tied the mark for the most victories during its 17-year NCAA Division I era, with 2002 and 2011 being the previous two instances. The last 20-win season came in 2000-01 (22-7), its final year at the NCAA Division II level.
- Watkins continues to lead the America East and ranks No. 24 in the nation with 20.4 points per game. She is also tied for second in the conference in steals (2.4 spg.). James is tops in the America East and third in the nation with 3.45 blocks per game. She is also first in the America East -- and No. 30 in the nation -- in rebounding (10.0 rpg.).
- As a team, Binghamton leads the conference and is eighth in the nation with 6.1 blocks per game. The Bearcats are also first in the America East in rebounding (39.9 rpg.) and second in scoring defense (56.4 ppg.). In addition, Binghamton is No. 17 in the nation in field goal percentage defense (.358) and No. 29 in scoring defense.
- Watkins and James have already etched their names in the record books this season. James has broken both the Binghamton and America East single-season and career records for blocks (100 and 260 respectively). Watkins, meanwhile, has 2,060 career points, which ranks first all-time in Binghamton history and No. 10 in America East Conference history.
- Should Binghamton defeat Hartford, it will face either No. 2 Albany or No. 7 Vermont in the second round on Sunday at 4:15 p.m. The Bearcats swept the season series against Vermont (62-48 on the road on Jan. 31 and 52-38 at the Events Center on Feb. 14) but lost both games to Albany (63-46 on Jan. 15 and 57-53 on Feb. 22).
- In the America East Tournament, Albany is 4-0 against Binghamton, including wins in both the 2012 and 2016 semifinals. Vermont, meanwhile, has won both of its previous games against the Bearcats (2003 quarterfinals and 2005 quarterfinals).
- Binghamton is 6-16 all time in America East Tournament games. The Bearcats have made six previous trips to the conference semifinals (2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 & 2016) and are seeking its first trip to the finals.
Milestones to Watch for at the America East Tournament
- Binghamton's last 20-win season was in 2000-01, the season before it moved up to the NCAA Division I level
- The Bearcats are seeking their second semifinal appearance in three years. Binghamton beat UMBC 49-41 in the 2016 quarterfinals at the Events Center.
- Binghamton is seeking its first-ever trip to the America East finals
- Binghamton's last tournament title was the 1999 New England College Conference championship, when the program was still competing at the NCAA Division II level. It also won the State University of New York (SUNYAC) tournament title in 1997, when it competed at the NCAA Division III level.
