Kassidy Seary belted a three-run home run and senior outfielder
Jessica Rutherford drove in a pair of runs as Binghamton (10-15, 3-2 AE) gained a split at Albany (16-10, 4-3 AE) in an America East softball doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Bearcats lost the opener 10-0 but bounced back for a 6-5 win in the nightcap.
Rutherford, who hit a team-best .429 during the doubleheader (3-for-7) extended her hitting streak to nine games. For the season, she leads the Bearcats with a .379 batting average.
Seary, meanwhile, finished 2-for-4 with a double to go along with her home run. She is now second on the team with 18 RBI.
Seary hit her homer in the top of the fourth inning of the second game, putting the Bearcats ahead 4-2. Four batters later, Rutherford padded the lead to 5-2 on a RBI single.
Albany pulled to within 5-4 in the bottom of the same inning but Rutherford's RBI ground out in the top of the sixth inning made it 6-4.
The Great Danes left the tying run on first base when the game ended in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Chelsea Howard evened her record at 2-2 with the win while sophomore pitcher
Rozlyn Price recorded her first save of the season.
The loss was tagged to Miranda Jiminez, whose record dropped to 4-3.
In the opener, Albany blew the game open with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. From there, the Great Danes added single runs in the second and fourth innings.
Celeste Virdelvo fired a three-hit shutout to improve to 8-1. Sophomore
Rayn Gibson took the loss and is now 5-6.
Price and senior outfielder
Carrie Maniccia both finished the day 2-for-5 (.400) at the plate.
Binghamton will face Stony Brook in a three-game America East series this coming weekend. The series has been moved to Cornell. Saturday's doubleheader will start at noon as will Sunday's single game.
