VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball broke open a 4-1 game with six runs in the fifth inning and the Bearcats (13-25-1) went on to an 11-1 win over visiting Cornell (11-19-1) Wednesday night at the Baseball Complex. 

Freshman outfielder Andrew Eng went 3-for-3 with three RBI and six pitchers combined on a four-hitter as BU won its third straight game.

The game was tied 1-1 when the Bearcats plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth. After senior designated hitter Pat Britt led off with a ground-rule double, Eng brought him in with an RBI single to make it 2-1. Eng came around to score on an outfield throwing error before sophomore third baseman Greg Satriale launched an RBI hit to the base of the center field wall to make it 4-1. 

One inning later, BU erupted for six runs on four hits to reach double figures. Freshman first baseman Shane Marshall hit an RBI double into the left field corner to make it 5-1. Eng drove in another run with a single and then Marshall scampered home on a wild pitch to push BU's lead to 7-1. Later in the inning, senior shortstop Paul Rufo delivered a two-out, two-run single to right center and BU's 10th run scored on a wild pitch - one of five Cornell pitchers unleashed in the game. 

The  Bearcats tacked on one final run in the eighth inning, courtesy of a sacrifice fly from freshman designated hitter Sam Freedman.

Sophomore starter Ben Anderson (W, 1-2) was credited with the win after striking out four and allowing just one hit in his 2.0 scoreless innings. 

Britt went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Binghamton had a 13-hit attack and registered its second-highest scoring output of the season. 

The Bearcats head to Orono on Friday in advance of their crucial three-game set at Maine this weekend. The teams will play a pair on Saturday and finish with a single game Sunday.
