Bearcats have won four of last five games, look to remain perfect at home

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (6-4-2, 1-1 America East) will look to remain unbeaten at home and extend another unbeaten string when the Bearcats host Maine (5-4-1, 1-1 AE) at noon Sunday at the Sports Complex.

The Bearcats are 5-0 at home in 2018 and also have gone 4-0-1 in the team's last five games against the Black Bears.

Binghamton notched its first conference win of the season and its first road win with a comfortable 3-0 victory at UMBC on Thursday. Seniors Kayla Saager and Patty Loonie scored first-half goals and sophomore Ivana Pjetri added a late goal.

Keepers Mackenzie Hanna and Haylee Poltorak split halves to produce BU's fourth shutout in its last five games. Poltorak ranks 33rd in the nation in save percentage (.857).

Saager's goal was her conference-leading ninth of the season. She ranks seventh in the country in goals and 14th in points (21).

The Black Bears evened their America East record with a 1-0 home win over New Hampshire on Thursday. A goal in the 81st minute was the difference. Maine began conference play with a 3-2 loss at Stony Brook last Sunday. Freshman midfielder Julia Mahoney leads the team with 12 points (4 goals, 4 assists) and junior midfielder Nicole Bailey, who scored the winner against UNH, has a team-high five goals.

Maine was picked to finish eighth of nine in the Coaches' Preseason Poll but Thursday's win over a UNH team that was picked to win the league might have conference coaches rethinking their votes.

Bingamton leads the all-time series 11-4-3 and is unbeaten in the last five matchups (4-0-1). Last season, BU edged Maine in Orono, 1-0, behind a goal from Ryan Reilly in the second overtime.
