Wrestling Has Eyes Set on Army Sunday

Bearcats look for first dual win of the season in EIWA matchup

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton wrestling team (0-2) hits the road Sunday (Jan. 13) when it travels to Army West Point for an away match at 2 p.m. at Gillis Field House.

Need to Know
  • Redshirt-freshman Lou DePrez moved up to #8 in the latest NCAA rankings, presented by FloWrestling. It is the highest ranking he has received this season.
  • The Bearcats are coming hot off the Southern Scuffle, placing two and advancing five to day two of the tournament.
  • #8 Lou DePrez (184) placed third and Vincent DePrez placed eighth (174)

  • The Bearcats look for their first dual win this season, after starting 0-2 with losses to No. 8 Cornell and University at Buffalo
  • Redshirt-freshman Lou DePrez (184) has placed in three tournaments already this season, working his way up the national poll to earn his highest ranking this past week at No. 8 
  • Redshirt-senior Vincent DePrez had a strong showing at the Southern Scuffle, with an upset win over the #4 seed, Spencer Cary (Navy) third round. His four wins at the tournament pushed him over the 80 mark for his career. He sits at 82 career wins with more than a third of the season left to hit the 100 mark. 
Scouting West Point
  • Army is 2-2 overall this season, with wins over EIWA foes Drexel (29-5) and American (21-13)
  • They were most recently tied for 26th in Trackwrestling's first poll of 2019, following its first ever top-10 finish at the Midland's Championships, hosted by Northwestern. 
  • Army has two wrestlers ranked nationally in 174-pounder Ben Harvey (#15) and 197-pounder Rocco Caywood (#4)
