Playoff-bound Bearcats looking for 10th win of season, Kick-off set for 7 p.m.

VESTAL, N.Y. - Already assured of a playoff spot, Binghamton women's soccer (9-5-2, 3-3-1 America East) will look to keep its hope alive for a home postseason game when the Bearcats host UMBC (2-12-2, 1-6 AE) Thursday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The teams will kick off at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale.

The Bearcats punched their postseason ticket with a 1-0 win at UMass Lowell on Sunday. Junior forward Sarah Dibble scored in the 22nd minute and classmate Mackenzie Hanna posted the shutout amid a frantic final 13 minutes when BU was forced to play a man down after a red card.

Freshman midfielder Olivia McKnight still leads the team with 12 points (4 goals, 4 assists) and junior Essie Bonney has a team-high five goals. Binghamton can move into the fourth position and host a quarterfinal game Sunday with a win tonight coupled with a New Hampshire tie or loss in its home game against UMass Lowell.

The Retrievers will conclude their season on Thursday. Despite a 1-6 conference mark, the team has been competitive in all but two conference games. Three of the team's six losses have come by the narrowest of margins, including a 1-0 loss to reigning champion Albany and a 2-1 overtime defeat to playoff-bound Hartford on Sunday. The Retrievers' lone conference win was a 2-1 victory at Maine on Oct. 20.

Junior forward Christina Corbi leads the team with five goals and sophomore midfielder Danielle Fuentes has a team-best six assists.

In the head-to-head series between Binghamton and UMBC, the Bearcats lead 12-2-2. Binghamton has won each of the last two meetings by identical 3-0 scores. UMBC did post a 3-1 home win in 2016.

Regardless of the outcome Thursday, BU will play a quarterfinal game Sunday afternoon. The top two teams will receive byes and host the semifinals on Nov. 7. The third- and fourth-seeded teams will host the quarterfinals in the six-team field.
