Men's basketball welcomes SUNY Oneonta Tuesday

Bearcats and former SUNYAC foe Red Dragons square off for first time in 23 years

VESTAL, N.Y. - Riding a three-game win streak, Binghamton men's basketball dips into its past when the Bearcats (3-3) welcome SUNY Oneonta (1-3) to the Events Center on Tuesday. The two former Division III SUNYAC foes tip at 7 p.m. at Dr. Bai Lee Court in a game broadcast on ESPN3.

The game is the second straight at home and part of a four-of-five at home for the Bearcats, who follow with a road game Sunday at Loyola.

•    This is Binghamton's 74th season of basketball, 19th at the Division I level

•    This is an exhibition game for the Division III Red Dragons, who play out of the SUNYAC and are 1-3 early this season

•    Oneonta beat 2019 NCAA quarterfinalist Williams 75-69 in OT Nov. 19
•    Team returns all five starters from a 16-11 squad that reached the SUNYAC title game for the second straight year (one win shy of NCAA berth)

Sessoms, Mills sweep America East weekly awards  
Sophomore guard Sam Sessoms and freshman guard Brenton Mills gave BU a 1-2 sweep of the America East weekly awards for Nov. 25. It's the first time in six years (POW Jordan Reed and ROW Marlon Beck in 2013-14) that BU has swept both awards. Sessoms averaged 24.5 points in a 2-0 week to earn his first Player of the Week honor. After pouring in 33 points with 12 rebounds against NJIT, Sessoms added 16 points and a career-high seven assists vs. Army. Mills earned his first collegiate honor with Rookie of the Week honors. He averaged 16.0 points on 52% shooting and had a crucial block to set up Sessoms' heroics at NJIT. He has scored in double figtures in three of his last four games to climb into double figures (10.8 ppg.). 

Bearacts among the America East, NCAA stat leaders  
Sophomore guard Sam Sessoms leads the America East in assists (4.8), is second in free throw percentage (93.3%) and is third in scoring (19.5). Sessoms ranks 38th in the country in points. Freshman forward George Tinsley leads the conference and ranks fifth in the nation in minutes (38.5/game). Tinsley also is second in the America East in rebounding (8.8). Senior forward Pierre Sarr is fourth in the AE in blocks (1.2).  

Bearcats are 7th youngest team in nation
Binghamton is ranked No. 347 in experience (7th youngest team in nation) by KenPom. In each of the last two games, BU has started three freshmen (Mills, Tinsley, Hjalmarsson), a sophomore (Sessoms) and a senior (Sarr).
