VESTAL, N.Y. – Senior guard
Kai Moon has been named the America East Women's Basketball Player of the Week. It marks the second time in three weeks that she has earned the conference's weekly accolade.
Moon averaged 17.0 points per game in leading the Bearcats to a pair of road wins. In the process, she became the 18th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark for their career. Moon reached the milestone against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday as part of a game-high, 22-point performance.
For the season, Moon ranks fourth in the nation with 24.2 points per game. She is also sixth with 4.17 three point field goals per contest.
Moon continues to rank No. 18 all time in Binghamton program history with 1,013 career points. She needs five points to tie Helene Thomas (1981-85) for 17th place all time. In 16th place, with 1,019 points is Jen Blues (2002-06).
The Bearcats have now posted a weekly award winner all three weeks this season. Moon was honored on Nov. 11 while freshman guard
Denai Bowman was the America East Rookie of the Week last week.
Binghamton (6-0) is off to its third-best start in program history. The Bearcats host St. Bonaventure on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
