Women's Basketball Heads to FIU Holiday Hoops Classic

Bearcats meet Austin Peay in opening round Thursday at 2 p.m.

STORY LINES
 
- Binghamton (9-1) lost 79-56 on Tuesday night to a Miami team that is receiving votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 Poll. Senior guard Carly Boland scored a game-high and season-best 22 points while junior forward Olivia Ramil finished with 12 points and five rebounds. For the season, senior guard Kai Moon ranks No. 10 in the nation with 21.5 points per game.
 
- Austin Peay (6-2) won 67-61 at Alabama A&M on Saturday. Kelen Kenol scored a team-best 15 points while Arie Gonzalez-Varner finished with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. For the season, Gonzalez-Varner leads the Governors with 12.0 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.
 
- Florida International (2-6) lost 77-52 on Sunday at Jacksonville. Fujika Nimo netted a team-high 13 points while Jiselle Thomas added 12 points. Thomas leads the Panthers so far this season with 13.1 points per game.
 
- Grambling State (1-7) lost 70-66 at Louisiana Tech on Monday. Ariel Williams led the Tigers with 17 points while Justice Coleman netted 15 points. Coleman is averaging a team-best 14.1 points per game while Alexus Holt is putting up 14.0 points per contest.
 
- Austin Peay leads the all-time series against Binghamton, having taken a 71-67 decision back on Nov. 18, 2012 at home. The Bearcats have yet to face Florida International nor Grambling State in women's basketball.
 
- As a team, the Bearcats rank fifth in the nation with a .797 free throw percentage. Austin Peay, meanwhile, is No. 12 with 9.6 three pointers per game and No. 14 with 9.6 steals per game.
