Women's Lacrosse Falls to Colgate 7-6

Kelly Quinn led the Bearcats with two goals

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (0-3) fell 7-6 to Colgate (1-1) Wednesday evening at Crown Field. Kelly Quinn led the offense with two goals, recording two draw controls and picking up one ground ball. Taylor Passuello made eight saves in the net.

"Today was a hard one," head coach Stephanie Allen said. "Colgate came out and played a very tough game and we just didn't respond when we needed it most. You can't win games with as many turnovers as we had today - that's something we have been focused on all season and will continue to moving forward. We have another quick turnaround, so the focus is on moving forward and responding appropriately the next time we step on the field."

Highlights
  • After Colgate scored the first goal of the game, Binghamton jumped to a 3-1 lead in the first half.
  • Kelly Quinn scored her first of the game and third of the season, as Paige Volkmann and Olivia Batista quickly followed suit.
  • Colgate closed out the first half with two more goals, taking a 3-3 score into the half.
  • Binghamton and Colgate traded goal for goal in the second half, before Kelly Quinn found the back of the net on an assist from Rebecca Golderman. Ciara Gordon quickly netted her first of the season to pull Binghamton ahead 6-5 with 13 minutes to go in the game.
  • Colgate scored back to back goals at the end of the 2nd half to win 7-6.
  • Sam Fama, Brianna Distler and Paige Volkmann finished with three ground balls each.
