Women’s Lacrosse Drops Tight Game to Lafayette 13-12

Biancardi scores five, Volkmann extends scoring streak

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton Women's Lacrosse team (0-7) lost to Lafayette (4-2) at home Wednesday night, 13-12. Amelia Biancardi scored 5 goals on her way to setting the team-high for points in a game this season, while Alyssa Sanchez recorded her second multi-goal game.

"Lafayette stepped up and fought hard in the second half and we just struggled to slow them down," head coach Stephanie Allen said. "They are a tough team and when it came down to critical moments, we were not at our best tonight. We just need to be hungrier for that "W" and know that it's going to come when we string two units and 60 minutes together."

Highlights
  • Lafayette got on the board first before Olivia Batista tied the game for Binghamton from the free position
  • Amelia Biancardi scored four goals in the first half, recording her first hat trick of the season in a span of 2:15
  • Lafayette scored two in a row before the Bearcats responded with two of their own to make it 9-5 at the half
  • Paige Volkmann took advantage of an Amelia Biancardi assist to extend her scoring streak to six games
  • Lafayette went on two seperate 3-0 runs either side of Emily Yoo's free position goal to tie the score at 12 with just over four minutes remaining
  • Bella Alampi scored her second of the night, the game winner for Lafayette with a minute left in the game
